The TAR UMT Johor Branch

in Segamat began operations on 18 May 1998. Located at the south of Segamat, the Branch is approximately a 20 minute drive from town. Centred on an impressive 50-acre campus space, and surrounded by lush greenery and landscaped gardens, the Branch Campus is equipped with every facility and recreational amenity to provide a conducive study environment for its students. 

Welcome Message from the Head

Welcome to Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), Johor Branch. 

I am proud of the rich tradition of providing quality education to more than 5,000 undergraduate students since 1998. TAR UMT, Johor Branch is located in the Segamat region, and is well-recognised across the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia for its excellence in education. Our undergraduate programmes get ready our students to become the pillars of our nations with the necessary moral depth and intellectual intensity.

The programmes offered at TAR UMT, Johor Branch received the exemptions award from the professional bodies such as, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), CPA Australia and The Chartered Governance Institute. In addition, the collaboration with Coventry University, United Kingdom provides students with opportunity to study abroad. With a group of experienced, well-qualified and committed academicians, our students are well equipped with the professional knowledge, skills, experience and ethics that required to build a strong, steady and united nation. In light of the motto “Beyond Education”, thousands of students have benefited from the affordable fee structure for pursuing tertiary education.

The History

Phase 1 

of the Building Project comprises 3 buildings (Block A, Block B and Block C) which includes lecture halls, tutorial rooms, a library, computer laboratories and offices. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on 4 November 1995. 

Phase 2 

of the Building Project which started in 2001 consists of an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a Sports Complex that houses a cafeteria, function hall, gymnasium, squash courts and meeting rooms.

Phase 3

of the Building Project which cost RM8.6 million commenced in February 2001 and was completed in June 2002. This project comprises a Multi-purpose Auditorium and Workshops.

Student Residence

An external investor, B&G started the construction of hostel blocks next to the Johor Branch in April 2012. There are 6 blocks of 5-storey hostels with a total of 690 units. Each unit consists of 3 bedrooms, a living hall and 3 attached bathrooms. TAR UMT bought over all 6 blocks in 2014.
