International Research & Information Science Expo 2026 (IRISE 2026)
The Department of Accountancy and Business, TAR UMT Johor Branch, nominated a team of RBU programme students to participate in the International Research & Information Science Expo 2026 (IRISE 2026), organized by UiTM Kelantan Branch in collaboration with industry partners.
The team achieved notable success by winning the Bronze Award with their innovation project, “AutoClean Grip,” a self-disinfecting handrail system designed to reduce microbial contamination. The judges commended the project for its originality, practicality, and strong teamwork. Participation in IRISE 2026 enhanced the students’ innovation, problem-solving, and presentation skills while strengthening the academic reputation of TAR UMT Johor Branch.
The Photography Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch organized a two-day, one-night educational trip titled Kuala Lumpur: A Photographic Learning Adventure from 31 January to 1 February 2026. The trip aimed to enhance students’ practical photography skills, particularly in capturing historical and cultural landmarks, while fostering teamwork through collaborative shooting sessions.
A total of 29 participants visited key sites such as Dataran Merdeka, Petaling Street, KLCC, Thean Hou Temple, and Putra Mosque. Students practiced techniques like wide-angle shots, symmetry, framing, and adjusting camera settings under varying lighting conditions. Overall, the trip provided valuable real-world experience and helped students build their portfolios while appreciating Kuala Lumpur’s architectural and cultural heritage.
On 16 January 2026, TAR UMT Johor Branch’s Advancing Innovative Research and Development Centre held a workshop, “Getting Started with Research: Research Foundations for Beginners.” The programme aimed to equip 29 academic staff, especially early-career and teaching-focused staff, with essential research knowledge and confidence. Topics included the nature of research, basic vs. applied research, topic identification, project planning, and key research steps such as problem identification, literature review, methodology, and data collection.
The Accounting and Business Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch organised a one-day field trip to Batu Pahat on 30 January 2026, featuring two educational visits. Participants visited Soon Ling Garment Sdn. Bhd. to gain firsthand exposure to garment manufacturing processes and industry practices, followed by a DIY workshop at Simple Made Project.
The workshop offered hands-on activities that encouraged creativity and enhanced practical skills. Overall, the field trip provided a balanced learning experience by combining industrial exposure with creative application, supporting students’ holistic development.
The Entrepreneurship students of TAR UMT Johor Branch successfully organised the One Together Charity Carnival from 10th to 11th March 2026 as part of the Small Business Venture project. The event aimed to enhance students’ entrepreneurship and event management skills while promoting teamwork, leadership, communication, and social responsibility. A total of 120 participants attended, and various activities such as food stalls, games, and small business sales were held. Approximately RM600 was raised and donated to Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak Bestari to support children in need.
The Music & Taekwondo Society successfully organized the Creative Art Workshop: Foam Beads Painting on 1 April 2026 at TAR UMT Johor Branch, with 33 participants. The workshop aimed to enhance creativity, concentration, and artistic expression while providing a relaxing environment to reduce stress and support mental well-being. Participants created unique artworks using foam beads, developing soft skills such as patience, focus, and adaptability, while also promoting teamwork and interaction among members from different societies.
The Career Fair 2026 was successfully held on 13 March 2026 at TAR UMT Johor Branch, in collaboration with PERKESO and JTDC. The event featured 14 companies and attracted around 200 participants. It provided job seekers with opportunities to explore career options through company booths, interviews, consultations, and workshops, while strengthening industry–university collaboration and enhancing participants’ employability.
The Advancing Innovative Research and Development Centre, TAR UMT Johor Branch, conducted a workshop titled “Enhancing Research Visibility: A Guide to Google Scholar Profiles” on 1st April 2026. The workshop aimed to introduce the importance of researcher profiling and citation indexing, especially to new and young researchers, while guiding participants in creating and maintaining Google Scholar profiles. A total of 34 staff members participated, gaining hands-on experience and practical insights to enhance their scholarly visibility and support their academic growth.
On 29 March 2026, Diploma in Accounting (DAC) Group 1 organised a one-day volunteering activity at Rumah Orang Tua Bukit Siput.
A total of 9 students took part in the programme, assisting with cleaning and improving the living environment of the elderly home. In addition, 12 food packs were prepared and distributed to the residents.
This meaningful initiative aimed to promote social responsibility among students while creating a cleaner and more comfortable space for the elderly.
On 4 April 2026, the Christian Fellowship of TAR UMT Johor Branch successfully organized “Escape the Dark: An Easter Experience". The event involved 18 participants and featured themed challenge stations focusing on pressure, trust, fear, and hope. Through group-based activities, participants strengthened their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. The program concluded with a reflective session, leaving participants with meaningful insights on hope and overcoming challenges, while also providing valuable experience for the organizing committee in event planning and leadership.
Diploma in Accounting Year 1 Semester 3 Group 1 carried out a community service activity on 28 March 2026 at Reach Segamat Center. The programme aimed to promote social responsibility, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills among students through hands-on volunteer experience.
A total of 10 students participated, engaging in grass weeding, environmental cleaning, and organising items in the store. The group also donated acrylic paints and drawing boards to support the children’s learning activities and improve the centre’s environment.
On 27 March 2026, Diploma in Accounting students organised a cleaning activity at Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak Bestari.
A total of 10 students took part in cleaning and organising the centre, including sweeping floors, clearing drains, and tidying the premises. The students also spent time interacting with the children and assisting them with their schoolwork.
In addition, essential items such as brooms, a mop, and cookies were donated to support the centre’s daily needs.
This meaningful programme aimed to promote cleanliness and nurture a strong sense of social responsibility among students.
