International Research & Information Science Expo 2026 (IRISE 2026)
The Department of Accountancy and Business, TAR UMT Johor Branch, nominated a team of RBU programme students to participate in the International Research & Information Science Expo 2026 (IRISE 2026), organized by UiTM Kelantan Branch in collaboration with industry partners.
The team achieved notable success by winning the Bronze Award with their innovation project, “AutoClean Grip,” a self-disinfecting handrail system designed to reduce microbial contamination. The judges commended the project for its originality, practicality, and strong teamwork. Participation in IRISE 2026 enhanced the students’ innovation, problem-solving, and presentation skills while strengthening the academic reputation of TAR UMT Johor Branch.
The Photography Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch organized a two-day, one-night educational trip titled Kuala Lumpur: A Photographic Learning Adventure from 31 January to 1 February 2026. The trip aimed to enhance students’ practical photography skills, particularly in capturing historical and cultural landmarks, while fostering teamwork through collaborative shooting sessions.
A total of 29 participants visited key sites such as Dataran Merdeka, Petaling Street, KLCC, Thean Hou Temple, and Putra Mosque. Students practiced techniques like wide-angle shots, symmetry, framing, and adjusting camera settings under varying lighting conditions. Overall, the trip provided valuable real-world experience and helped students build their portfolios while appreciating Kuala Lumpur’s architectural and cultural heritage.
On 16 January 2026, TAR UMT Johor Branch’s Advancing Innovative Research and Development Centre held a workshop, “Getting Started with Research: Research Foundations for Beginners.” The programme aimed to equip 29 academic staff, especially early-career and teaching-focused staff, with essential research knowledge and confidence. Topics included the nature of research, basic vs. applied research, topic identification, project planning, and key research steps such as problem identification, literature review, methodology, and data collection.
The Accounting and Business Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch organised a one-day field trip to Batu Pahat on 30 January 2026, featuring two educational visits. Participants visited Soon Ling Garment Sdn. Bhd. to gain firsthand exposure to garment manufacturing processes and industry practices, followed by a DIY workshop at Simple Made Project.
The workshop offered hands-on activities that encouraged creativity and enhanced practical skills. Overall, the field trip provided a balanced learning experience by combining industrial exposure with creative application, supporting students’ holistic development.
