Hussein Digital Skills Competition (HDSC) 2025
The Department of Computing and Information Technology (DCIT), Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) Johor Branch, proudly participated in the Hussein Digital Skills Competition 2025 (HDSC 2025), organized by the Pusat Pembangunan Pelajar (PBP) in collaboration with the Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). The competition was held from 6 to 30 October 2025, with the Preliminary Round (Spreadsheet module) conducted online and the Final Round (Artificial Intelligence module) held at UTHM, Batu Pahat.
The competition aimed to strengthen digital literacy among youth through the International Certification in Digital Literacy (ICDL) framework, equipping participants with globally recognized digital skills. Representing TAR UMT Johor, three students Heng Zhun Keat, Lee Zhi Hua, and Katherine Ng Kai Qing took part under the guidance of academic advisors Ms. Nuur Shuhada Mohd Najib. All participants displayed strong commitment and teamwork during the online preliminary round. Two students, Lee Zhi Hua and Katherine Ng Kai Qing, successfully qualified for the final stage at UTHM, competing among top students from institutions nationwide.
Their outstanding performances earned remarkable result, Lee Zhi Hua emerged as the Winner, while Katherine Ng Kai Qing achieved the Second Runner-Up position, bringing pride and recognition to TAR UMT Johor. Participation in HDSC 2025 provided valuable experience in applying digital skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving under competitive conditions. The achievements of TAR UMT Johor’s students highlight the department’s continuous commitment to nurturing digitally competent, innovative, and future-ready graduates.
