Laba Festival 2025
The BLIA-YAD Segamat organized the Laba Festival 2025 celebration on January 6-7 at BLIA-YAD Segamat, Johor, in collaboration with the Buddhist Society. The event aimed to educate participants on the festival's Buddhist cultural significance, foster compassion, and promote community service. Activities included cooking and distributing porridge, which encouraged teamwork, volunteerism, and communication skills. 16 participants joined the celebration.
Chinese New Year Carnival: Year of the Snake
The Chinese New Year Carnival, organized by the Chinese Language Society, was successfully held on 12 February 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the ICT Foyer, TAR UMT Johor Branch, bringing students together to celebrate the festive occasion.
Participants took part in hands-on experiences with traditional foods, crafts, and ceremonies, deepening their understanding of Chinese cultural traditions and heritage. Activities such as bracelet-making, calligraphy, and the DIY Lion Dance Head Competition encouraged creativity and artistic expression.
The event also helped students develop teamwork, communication, and customer service skills, especially through managing food booths and participating in collaborative performances. Additionally, the Loh Sang Ceremony symbolized community values, unity, and prosperity, fostering a strong sense of cultural appreciation and togetherness among participants.

Peer Support Society T-shirt
The Badminton Society at TAR UMT Johor Branch successfully organized Badminton Breakout!! on 19 February 2025 (Wednesday), from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. This event aimed to unite members, introduce newcomers to badminton, and foster sportsmanship. A total of 41 students, including high posts, members, and non-members, participated.
Badminton Breakout!! provided participants with opportunities to enhance their badminton skills, leadership, teamwork, and collaboration. Additionally, it promoted sustainable practices such as good health, well-being, reduced inequalities, and inclusivity in society.
Ministry Outreach Plan
The TAR UMT Christian Fellowship, in collaboration with Segamat Chinese Methodist Church (SCMC), organized an outreach program at SJK(C) Kampung Tengah, Segamat on 19 February 2025. This event aimed to inspire students, foster a strong learning attitude, and encourage personal growth. Through engaging activities and meaningful interactions, participants motivated students to see education as a pathway to a brighter future. A total of 9 participants took part in this initiative.
Peer Support Society T-shirt
The Peer Support Society of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, Johor Branch, successfully organized a T-shirt event to promote club identity and entrepreneurship. Club members collaborated to design and sell T-shirts to students and teachers. Beyond fostering teamwork and creativity, the event also provided students with valuable business experience and awareness. The sales period ran from 30 December 2024 to 19 February 2025, from 11:15 AM to 1:00 PM.
Chinese New Year Carnival 2025
The Marketing and Management Society (MMS) of TAR UMT, in collaboration with the Segamat Buddhist Society, successfully hosted the Chinese New Year Carnival 2025 on 22 February at the Segamat Buddhist Society Centre.
The event celebrated the festive spirit while fostering community engagement and cultural appreciation. A total of 21 student helpers assisted with booth management, workshops, and event coordination. Highlights included a charity sale, game zones, "Lao Sheng," cultural performances, and New Year songs and dances. The carnival also aimed to promote TAR UMT, enhance student leadership, and provide hands-on event management experience.
From Talent to Hired: A Symposium on Impressing Employers on MYFutureJobs
The MYFutureJobs Symposium 2025, organized by Advancing Innovative Research and Development Centre, was held on 25–26 February 2025 via Google Meet, attracting 300+ participants from various countries. The event focused on career readiness, job market insights, and industry connections, featuring keynote speakers, panel discussions, and plenary sessions. Topics included resume writing, interview techniques, technological advancements, and university-industry collaboration.
Speakers from Universitas Tanjungpura, PERKESO, MBOT, STMicroelectronics, Tea Garden, and Technocom Systems shared valuable insights. Highlights included AI-powered mock interviews, global career alliances, and a panel on job market trends. The event also provided networking opportunities, skill development sessions, and a lucky draw, aiming to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers.
Blood Donation Campaign
The First Aid Unit organized a Blood Donation Campaign on 5 March 2025 at the TAR UMT Johor Branch ICT Center. The campaign aimed to support Hospital Segamat’s Blood Bank, enhance students’ First Aid knowledge, strengthen collaboration with hospital staff and The Lions Club of Segamat Puteri, and develop leadership and communication skills among First Aid Unit members. A total of 36 students, 6 staff, and 5 outsiders participated, resulting in the collection of 47 pints of blood. The event also helped promote TAR UMT Johor Branch to the public.
Night Party Charity Event
The Night Party event, organized by the Accounting and Business Society on 3 April 2025, served a dual purpose: to raise funds for charity and to provide participants with a chance to relax, recharge, and expand their social circles. A total of RM195 was raised during the event and used to purchase dog food for a local dog shelter.
MYFUTUREJOB Career Fair 2025
MYFUTUREJOBS Career Fair 2025, organized by TAR UMT Johor Branch in collaboration with PERKESO and Pusat Khidmat Parlimen Sekijang, was held on 14th March 2025 at the ICT Centre Atrium. Timed with the convocation period, the event connected students and graduates with 17 companies through company booths, on-the-spot interviews, career consultations, and workshops. Activities included CV writing sessions, interview tips, and job market insights to enhance employability. The fair aimed to bridge academia and industry, providing career opportunities and guidance to participants while fostering community engagement.
Love Beyond Walls: Visiting the Orphaned Children
The English Language Society organized an Orphanage Visit to Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak Bestari, Segamat on 12 April 2025. The event aimed to foster compassion, community spirit, and volunteerism among students while providing a platform to practice English through interactive activities. It also promoted teamwork and leadership during the planning and execution of the program. A total of 13 students and one advisor took part in the visit.

The Community Sociology Advisor Group Society (CSAG) of TAR UMT Johor Branch organized The Giving Bouquet fundraising event on 15 March 2025. The initiative aimed to enhance students’ business and marketing skills while fostering community engagement.
A total of 19 committee members sold flower bouquets during convocation near the campus hall and ICT building. The event provided hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, communication, and teamwork.
Breakfast Business Enhancement Mini Programme for Miss Yap Yoke Eing’s Stall
From 17 March to 14 April 2025, RAF Y2S2 students of TAR UMT Johor Branch conducted the Breakfast Business Enhancement Mini Programme for Miss Yap Yoke Eing’s stall. The project aimed to improve her business through better branding, customer interaction, social media presence, inventory management, cost efficiency, and store hygiene.
The team introduced digital tools such as Canva, Red Note, WhatsApp Business, Google Sites, Microsoft Excel, and Google Forms to support operations and promotions. With five students involved, the program highlighted how small efforts, when paired with teamwork and commitment, can make a meaningful impact on local businesses..
Mini Business Development Project for Uncle Tee Beng Kiong's Stall
RAF Y2S2 students from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) Johor Branch successfully carried out a business development project for Uncle Tee’s stall as part of the MPU 3202 Service Learning course. Held over five Saturdays and three Sundays between 22 March and 19 April 2025, the project took place at Jalan Khalidi, Muar.
The initiative focused on strengthening Uncle Tee’s digital presence through Facebook and Instagram, enhancing financial management using Excel, integrating digital payment systems, and building a lasting brand identity. With the participation of six dedicated students, the program ran smoothly and made a meaningful impact on the stall’s business operations.
Bathing Festival Buddha’s Birthday 2025
The Buddhist Society organized the "Bathing Festival Buddha’s Birthday 2025" on 5 May 2025 at Study Centre 2, TAR UMT Johor Branch. The event aimed to promote understanding of Buddhist traditions, especially the symbolic act of bathing the Buddha, while encouraging inner peace, cultural awareness, and moral values. It also provided a platform for the committee to develop soft skills through event planning and fundraising. A total of 278 students, 15 staff, and 19 helpers participated.
Orientation Week June Intake 2025
The Student Representative Council (SRC) successfully organized the Orientation Week for the June 2025 Intake from 16 to 19 June at TAR UMT Johor Branch Campus, welcoming approximately 190 new students. The programme featured a variety of activities, including briefings, workshops, campus tours, games, and sharing sessions. It was designed to help freshmen transition smoothly into university life while fostering new friendships, boosting confidence, and developing essential soft skills through informative and engaging experiences.
Johor Digital Literacy Day 2025
The Johor Digital Literacy Day (JDLD) 2025 AI Challenge was held on 20–21 June 2025 at the University of Southampton Malaysia, EduCity, organized by D.E.W. Technology with key partners. The event featured two main segments: the AI Chatbot Development Challenge and the ICDL Digital Skills Certification.
TAR UMT Johor Branch sent 14 students with three academic advisors, forming one of the largest delegations. Their strong performance earned the university the League Champion title and several individual awards.
Festival of Languages and Cultures 2025
A total of 59 students, led by Dr. Nina from DSSH, TAR UMT Johor Branch, took part in the inaugural Festival of Languages and Cultures (FLC 2025), organized by the Language Academy of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 14–15 May 2025 at Perpustakaan Raja Zarith Sofiah. Held in conjunction with UTM’s 15th anniversary and themed “Celebrating Languages Across Cultures,” the event featured cultural exhibitions, language games, performances, and forums that promoted cross-cultural understanding and linguistic diversity. The students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to explore various languages, improve their communication skills, and connect with peers from different backgrounds.
Discover Support @ TAR UMT Johor Branch
The Student Counselling Services, in collaboration with the Peer Support Society, organised the Discover Support @ TAR UMT Johor Branch campaign from 30 June to 21 September 2025 to promote mental well-being and raise awareness of counselling services.
Key activities included Counselling Open Day, which featured walk-in consultations and interactive games, and Love Letters, an online platform for anonymous emotional expression with counsellor responses. Promotional materials were also displayed across campus to increase engagement.
The campaign successfully reduced stigma around seeking help, strengthened peer support, and reinforced the university’s commitment to fostering a caring and mentally healthy campus environment.
Majlis Perasmian Sambutan Minggu Perpaduan Peringkat Negeri Johor
The Nation Building Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch, in collaboration with TAR UMT Duta Perpaduan Johor, proudly participated in the Sambutan Minggu Perpaduan (SMP) Peringkat Kebangsaan 2025 held on 15 May 2025 at Dataran Segamat, Johor. The event aimed to foster unity, enhance cultural understanding, and strengthen our national identity. Representing the university with pride, our Duta Perpaduan student led the Bacaan Ikrar Rukun Negara during the opening ceremony, which was officiated by prominent representatives from the Ministry of National Unity.
Unity Fun Walk & Eksplorasi Rukun Negara
The Nation Building Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch participated in the Sambutan Minggu Perpaduan (SMP) Peringkat Kebangsaan 2025 on 17 May 2025 at Dataran Segamat, Johor. A total of 14 students and 1 Duta Perpaduan facilitator joined the Unity Fun Walk and Eksplorasi Rukun Negara activities organized by JPNIN Johor. The event promoted Rukun Negara values, teamwork, and national identity while encouraging physical wellness. Two TAR UMT teams also received consolation prizes in the competition.
Eco Enzyme Talk
The Aquaculture and Agriculture Society, together with Dr. Hoe Yin Chen, conducted an Eco-Enzyme Talk on 2 July 2025 at SJKC Tambang, Batu Anam. The session aimed to educate students on the numerous benefits and practical applications of eco-enzymes in daily life, while also promoting healthier and more sustainable living practices. In addition, the program served as a platform for talent development by enhancing students’ soft skills and fostering personal growth. A total of nine participants took part in the event, with Eugene Chan Gui Xiang and Tan Mei Jian serving as speakers.
The 40th Malaysian Chinese Cultural Festival 2025
The Federation of Chinese Associations Johor State organized the 40th Malaysian Chinese Cultural Festival 2025 on 2 August 2025 at Dataran Padang, Tionghoa Hong San Tien, Segamat. A total of 56 student ambassadors from the Marketing and Management Society (MMS), TAR UMT Johor Branch, represented the university by joining the Larian Obor (Torch Run) and evening cultural showcases. Their participation fostered cultural appreciation, strengthened community ties, and enhanced soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication, reflecting TAR UMT’s commitment to cultural heritage and community engagement.
Enriching Cultural Insights: A Study Tour to Muar by TAR UMT Accounting and Business Society
The Accounting and Business Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch had organised a one-day study tour to Muar on 5 July 2025. This tour aims to provide a hands-on, experiential learning approach to broaden student perspectives by exposing them to different cultures and traditions. The first destination of the trip was Sabak Awor Resort and the second destination was Meng Choon Food Industries Sdn. Bhd. It is worth joining this tour as participants gained a unique experience, allowing them to engage with the local culture and learn about the city’s heritage.
Blood Donation Campaign 2025
On 6th August 2025, the First Aid Unit of Tunku Abdul Rahman University Management and Technology Johor Branch organized a successful Blood Donation Campaign from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event was supported by 14 medical staff from Hospital Segamat and coordinated by FAU committees, ensuring smooth operations and proper medical care. The Lions Club of Segamat Puteri provided refreshments and assisted with donor registration, significantly reducing organizational workload. Strong participation from students, lecturers, and community members, including many first-time donors, contributed to the campaign’s success. A total of 58 pints of blood were collected, and each donor received a souvenir as a token of appreciation, highlighting the university’s commitment to promoting this noble cause.
Beach Cleaning
On 12 August 2025, DBUY1S3 and DENY1S3 students, together with Ms. Heng, organized a beach cleanup at Klebang Beach, Malacca, involving 30 participants from various courses. The event aimed to tackle pollution, protect the ecosystem, and promote values such as teamwork, perseverance, and respect for nature. Students collected and sorted waste, improving the beach’s cleanliness while safeguarding marine life. Beyond environmental impact, the activity provided valuable volunteer experience, enhanced teamwork and leadership skills, and encouraged sustainable practices, making it a meaningful and impactful community service project.
Talent Night 2025 - Ember Echoes
he Student Representative Council (SRC) of TAR UMT Johor Branch organised Talent Night 2025 – Ember Echoes on 22 August 2025 at Dewan Tan Hoo. The event featured over 60 performers showcasing singing, dancing, acting, and fashion displays, providing students a creative platform while promoting inclusivity and campus unity. Supported by 37 helpers, the night concluded with award presentations and a lucky draw, marking a vibrant and memorable celebration of student talent.
VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT V-FORCE 6x6
The Volleyball Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch successfully organized the “V-Force 6x6 Volleyball Tournament” on 23 August 2025 at the Segamat Basketball Association. The event featured competitive matches, skill drills, and rule-explanation sessions, enabling students to sharpen techniques, teamwork, and sportsmanship. With 20 participants and support from 8 committee members, the tournament ran smoothly and fostered active living, leadership, and community spirit, further enriching TAR UMT Johor Branch’s sporting culture.
Campus Tour and Motivation Talk SMK Bandar Putra, Segamat
The Marketing and Management Society (MMS) of TAR UMT Johor Branch successfully organized a Campus Tour and Motivation Talk on 27 August 2025, welcoming around 80 students from SMK Bandar Putra, Segamat.
The event featured an inspiring motivational talk by Ms. Izzaty Aisyah binti Ya’cob, followed by a guided campus tour and a vibrant Merdeka celebration. It aimed to motivate students in their academic journey, introduce them to the university’s facilities, and cultivate a spirit of patriotism.
At the same time, the program provided valuable opportunities for MMS members to enhance their leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, making the event a meaningful and enriching experience for both guests and organizers alike.
Penyertaan Majlis Pembarisan dan Perarakan Hari Kebangsaan 2025
The aims of the 68th National Day Celebration 2025 were to foster patriotism and unity among Malaysians; to instill appreciation of national identity and values; to strengthen teamwork, cooperation, and discipline among participants; and to provide meaningful exposure to the community through a national-level event.
The TAR UMT Johor Branch contingent team, comprising Ms. Heng and 20 students, participated in the celebration on 31 August 2025 at Dataran Segamat, joining other contingent teams with more than 500 members. The event, organized by the Segamat District Government of Malaysia, successfully brought together diverse groups in a spirit of solidarity and pride.
The celebration attracted a large crowd of more than thousands of spectators who gathered to witness and commemorate Malaysia’s 68th National Day, creating a vibrant atmosphere of unity and patriotism.
Merdeka Poster Design Competition
The Poster Design Competition, organized by the National Building Society was successfully held on 20 August 2025 (Wednesday) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the ICT Foyer, TAR UMT Johor Branch. Centered on the theme “Malaysia Madani Rakyat Disantuni”, the competition encouraged students to creatively express their appreciation of Malaysia’s heritage while deepening their understanding of the nation’s history, culture, and values. The event engaged participants in a fun yet educational experience, nurturing patriotism, critical thinking, and confidence. Attractive prizes were awarded to the winners, and the initiative left a positive impact by fostering lifelong learning, civic responsibility, and unity among students.
The Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM) Johor Chapter, in collaboration with NextGen, conducted a Financial Literacy Talk on 3 September 2025 at TAR UMT Johor Branch. The talk was delivered by Mr. Jakson, who shared practical insights on money management, financial planning, and investment awareness.
The aims of the talk were to enhance students’ financial literacy, to equip them with essential money management skills, to promote awareness of financial planning for future security, and to encourage positive financial habits among students and staff. A total of 40 participants attended the event.
The Accounting and Business Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch launched a Mural Art Painting Project at Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Bestari, Segamat, held from 12 to 13 October 2025, to transform a plain wall into a vibrant artwork symbolizing community care and creativity. With materials provided by the centre, student volunteers worked together to paint the mural, fostering teamwork, compassion, and self-expression while brightening the environment for the children and inspiring positivity within the community.
The Department of Social Science and Hospitality (DSSH), in collaboration with the Hotel Catering Society, organised the HotRing Skills Battle on 3 September 2025 at the ICT Atrium, TAR UMT Johor Branch. This marked the second edition of the event since its debut in 2024. Guided by two lecturers, 20 committee members successfully planned and managed the competition, which featured 18 participants from Diploma in Hotel Management Year 1 and Year 2.
The event aimed to enhance students’ technical, teamwork, and communication skills while building their confidence and self-esteem—key attributes for success in the hospitality industry.
On 8 and 9 September 2025, 18 Diploma in Aquaculture students, accompanied by three lecturers, joined a two-day field trip to Gelang Patah and Pontian, Johor. The visit to the Fisheries Research Institute (FRI) Gelang Patah introduced students to innovative fish, shrimp, and mollusk research, while HTI Aquatic offered hands-on experience in ornamental fish breeding and care. At SR Aquaculture in Benut, students explored modern earthen pond operations and management practices.
The trip provided valuable industry exposure, strengthened practical understanding, and inspired students to pursue future opportunities in the growing aquaculture sector.
The International Technology Talent Competition 2025, organised by the College of Computing, Informatics, and Mathematics, UiTM Johor, aimed to foster innovation and technological skills among students, researchers, and professionals.
TAR UMT Johor Branch, through the Department of Computing and Information Technology (DCIT), participated in the Innovation Exhibition Competition category. Two students showcased their Final Year Project, TASKSYNERGY: Task Allocation Optimization, a software solution for efficient task management, and proudly won the Bronze Medal—demonstrating their creativity, technical skills, and the support of DCIT lecturers.
The Nation Building Society (NBS) organised Moments of Thanks and Best Wishes from 15 to 24 September 2025 at the ICT Building, TAR UMT Johor Branch. The project sold fluid bearbrick keychains with thank-you cards to express appreciation to lecturers and peers, while promoting campus unity and raising funds for future NBS activities.
The Student Representative Council (SRC) of TAR UMT Johor Branch organised a visit to Rumah Orang Tua Bukit Siput on 19 September 2025 to show care for the elderly and promote social responsibility among students. Through meaningful interactions, students fostered empathy, compassion, and volunteerism while strengthening ties between the university and the local community. The visit left a heartfelt and positive impact on both residents and participants.
The Buddhist Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch celebrated the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival on 20 September 2025 at Library BLIA Segamat, bringing together 24 student participants and 8 committee members for an evening of culture and connection.
The highlight of the event was a hands-on jelly mooncake-making session, complemented by activities such as lantern riddle guessing, scented sachet-making, and a prize-giving session. Participants also enjoyed a vegetarian dinner before ending the night with a group photo and mooncake tasting.
More than a festive gathering, the event fostered unity, friendship, and cultural appreciation while contributing to participants’ graduate attribute marks—making it a truly meaningful and memorable celebration.
Orientation Day for November Intake Students
The Student Representative Council (SRC) organised the Orientation Day for November Intake students on 6 November 2025 at the Johor Branch campus. The programme featured campus tours, academic briefings, and sharing sessions conducted by key departments.
The event helped new students familiarise themselves with campus services, academic expectations, and available support while building early connections with their peers.
Youth Motivational Talk: Navigating the Future, Finding Direction in Uncertainty and Creating Your Success
The Department of Computing and Information Technology and the Department of Applied Sciences and Agriculture invited Professor Guo Yong Jin from Hebei University of Economics and Business, China, to deliver a youth motivational talk at TAR UMT Johor Branch. A renowned educator and thought leader, Professor Guo specialises in Chinese traditional culture, particularly the philosophies of Laozi and Confucius. He is the author of several influential works and has delivered numerous talks worldwide. Through his teachings, he promotes ecological living, harmony between humans and nature, and the uplifting of the human spirit as a public service.
CPUS Camp 2025
Students of TAR UMT Johor Branch supported the CPUS Camp 2025 held from 8–9 November 2025, where they assisted CPUS KL with activities such as campus tours, sports matches, icebreaking sessions, and the campfire preparation. The camp aimed to strengthen teamwork and inter-campus interaction, and concluded with a hiking activity at Bukit Cinta, Jementah. The programme successfully fostered communication and bonding between students from both campuses.
Visiting and Donating to an Orphanage
The English Language Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch conducted a community engagement visit and donation event at Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Bestari on 3 December 2025. Seven student volunteers participated, engaging the children through educational games, storytelling, and interactive activities to build confidence and communication skills. The team also donated dry food items sponsored by Lin Hui Vegetarian Food, Segamat Baru, supporting the orphanage’s daily needs. The event promoted empathy, social responsibility, volunteerism, and strengthened connections with the community, fostering a caring and inclusive environment.
Batik Canvas Painting
TAR UMT Johor Branch’s Christian Fellowship held a Batik Canvas Painting Activity on 19 November 2025 at the ICT Foyer, involving 31 students in a creative and culturally enriching session. Guided by facilitators Ms. Lim Bee Ting and Ms. Ong Siow Fern, participants learned basic batik-inspired painting techniques and many experienced this traditional art form for the first time.
The activity promoted appreciation for Malaysian culture while allowing students to express individuality and develop creativity, patience, and problem-solving skills. It also encouraged social interaction, bonding, and stress relief as students connected with peers from various programmes in a relaxed environment.
Overall, the event successfully supported holistic student development, strengthened campus community ties, and received positive responses from both facilitators and participants.
Sudoku Competition 2025
The Accounting and Business Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch successfully organised the Sudoku Competition on 3 December at DKC 3, engaging 94 students to enhance logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and academic engagement. Student volunteers ensured the event ran smoothly and fairly. The competition was a success, promoting analytical skills, discipline, and active participation in campus life.
Church Visit in Conjunction in Christmas
TAR UMT Johor Branch, through the Christian Fellowship Society, organized a Christmas church visit to Harvester Community Church on 11 December 2025. The event provided students with an opportunity to experience the cultural and communal spirit of Christmas in an inclusive and welcoming environment. Around 80 to 90 students and committee members participated in activities such as ice-breaking sessions, dinner, games, caroling, a Christmas message, and a gift exchange. Open to students of all backgrounds and free of charge, the visit promoted inclusivity, cultural awareness, fellowship, and community engagement, reflecting the university’s commitment to holistic and experiential learning beyond the classroom.
