Program Ekspo Akugro RT dan Simposium Duta Perpaduan Johor 2024

The Johor State Health and Unity Committee, in collaboration with the State Department of National Unity and Integration and the Ministry of National Unity, is excited to host the Akugro RT Expo and Duta Perpaduan Johor Symposium 2024 on January 13, 2024, at Dewan PPR Sri Stulang, Johor Bahru.


The event aims to share knowledge and best practices in health and unity, specifically within the framework of the Akugro RT program. It seeks to promote unity and collaboration among Johor's diverse communities, empowering individuals to be unity ambassadors, fostering understanding, tolerance, and cooperation.


The symposium serves as a platform for public discussions on the significance of unity and health, complemented by practical insights from the Akugro RT Expo. Ultimately, the organizers aspire to contribute to the creation of a more harmonious and united society in Johor.

Biscuit Blessing Charity Event 

The Peer Support Society and Hotel and Catering Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch organized the Biscuit Blessing Event from 19 February 2024 to 28 March 2024. The event aimed to enrich the Chinese New Year experience, promote caring for loved ones, and raise cultural awareness.


During the week of 19 February 2024 to 25 February 2024, 42 orders for New Year's gift boxes or packs were received. Materials were then sourced from a bakery shop, and on 2 March 2024, the Hotel and Catering Society baked the biscuits. These were later wrapped by the Peer Support Society members and distributed.

The event's success allowed the societies to extend their generosity to the Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Bestari, providing heartwarming meals for the children on 28 March 2024.

TAR UMT Social Responsibility 2024

TAR UMT Johor lecturers and FAFB students joined forces for a heartwarming 

Social Responsibility initiative in January 2024! They aimed to give back to the Segamat communities, spreading care and kindness. Held on January 28, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Pusat Jagaan Selva Rumah Prihatin Dan Bimbingan, the event saw generous grocery donations from Persatuan Penganut Agama Ling Shen Jen Foo Chung and a RM300 cash contribution from the organizers.

It Starts With a Meal 

The Department of Social Science and Hospitality, Johor Branch, has successfully organized a program to distribute lunch boxes to feed underprivileged individuals at Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Segamat. This charity activity aims to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 2: Zero Hunger, by implementing the 'It Starts with A Meal' project. Besides pursuing pathways towards zero hunger, it is everyone’s responsibility to be kind to the people around Segamat.

Chinese New Year Festival Event

The Chinese Language Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch successfully organized the Chinese New Year Festival at the ICT venue. This meaningful event aimed to cultivate participants' interest in Chinese culture, foster a sense of community, and provide an enjoyable festival for participants and the public, especially for parents attending the convocation. The event took place on 02 March 2024, Saturday, from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.


The festival featured various stalls selling food, drinks, games, and workshops, allowing participants to indulge in culinary delights and enjoy engaging activities. Additionally, captivating performances added to the festive atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience for attendees.

Donation to Persatuan Kebajikan Orang Istimewa

Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) Johor Branch's Community Sociology Advisory Group (CSAG) recently embarked on a meaningful visit to Persatuan Kebajikan Orang Istimewa. 

During this visit, they had the privilege of interacting with 17 individuals with disabilities, gaining profound insights into their daily lives and environment. Moreover, in a gesture of compassion and solidarity, the group dedicated all proceeds from their "Selling Flowers for Fundraising" campaign to support Persatuan Kebajikan Orang Istimewa. This act of generosity exemplifies TAR UMT's commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.

Integrity and Anti-Corruption Talk 2024

The Nation Building Society, in collaboration with BDO Malaysia, hosted an Integrity and Anti-Corruption Talk on March 27, 2024, at DKC 1 TAR UMT Johor Branch, featuring Mr. Johnny Sia as the speaker. 

With 227 participants, the workshop aimed to raise awareness among tertiary students about the harmful effects of corruption and stress the importance of honesty, transparency, and accountability. Through meaningful discussions, participants gained valuable knowledge and were inspired to contribute to fostering a culture of integrity and ethical behavior.

Book Donation Drive 

The Accounting and Business Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch organized a Book Donation Drive from April 8th to April 26th, 2024, to promote sustainable living and foster a reading culture within the community. This three-week event aimed to collect new or gently used books for donation to Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak Bestari, Segamat. In total, 14 participants contributed to this meaningful initiative.

Tech Entrepreneur Talk: “Digital Transformation Insights” 

TAR UMT’s Johor Branch hosted a Tech Entrepreneur Talk at DKC3, featuring insightful presentations from industry leaders. Mr. John Tay, President of ChangeMaker, discussed "Digital Transformation Insights," highlighting the importance of digital readiness and leveraging technologies like STEM, IoT, 5G, and AI for business growth. Allan Ding and Zoey Zeng from iMakerbase shared insights on Shenzhen's evolution into a global innovation hub. 

Stanley Seow, Co-Founder of ChangeMaker, presented "Case studies of Smart Agriculture with 5G & IoT," showcasing a high-tech urban farm in Langkawi. The hybrid event aimed to educate students and staff on digital transformation's relevance for future careers. Supported by ChangeMaker-Malaysia and iMakerbase-China, the talk commemorated the 50th anniversary of China-Malaysia relations, exploring impactful use cases in Smart Agriculture and technology's role in industry evolution. 

John Tay, with over 40 years of ICT experience, advocates for digital transformation towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Stanley Seow, with expertise in hardware design, software development, and blockchain, has led initiatives like the 5G-enabled urban farm in Langkawi.

University Social Responsibility & SDG – Blood Donation 

On 14th April 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Segamat Central Shopping Mall, the TAR UMT Johor Branch co-organized a blood donation event with Kelab Kebajikan Bandar Segamat. The event was led by Ms. Heng, the co-organizer chairperson, and Mr. Ku, the vice co-organizer, along with one student helper. 

This initiative aimed to fulfill University Social Responsibility (USR) and support the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of ensuring good health and well-being (SDG 3). The event aimed to raise awareness of the hospital's blood donation campaign and encourage community participation, ultimately contributing to the hospital's blood reserves. This collaboration emphasized collective responsibility towards healthcare and promoted public health.

Blood Donation Campaign 

The Blood Donation Campaign, organized by the First Aid Unit Society, is a biannual event aimed at giving back to the community. Held on 13/3/24 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at TAR UMT Johor Branch ICT Center, this campaign serves multiple objectives. 

It aims to bolster blood reserves at Hospital Segamat's Blood Bank, enhance students' first aid knowledge, foster better relationships between hospital staff and First Aid Unit members, and facilitate the growth of teamwork, leadership, and communication skills among our members. Join us in making a difference and supporting a worthy cause! 

17 - 18 April 2024

Light of the Love 

As part of MPU 2202 Civic Consciousness and Volunteerism, 14 DHM Y1S2 students organized a successful fundraising event on 17-18 April 2024, raising RM1000 for the Muhibbah Dialysis Centre Segamat. Guided by lecturer Ms. Heng Ee How, they sold food and beverages, developed civic responsibility, and enhanced teamwork skills.

English Math Competition 

The English Language Society (ELS) of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology Johor Branch organized the English Math Competition.


The English Math Competition was held on 20th March 2024, Wednesday, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm. The English Math Competition consisted of a total of 40 questions and was conducted at DKC 2, using papers for participants to answer the questions.

This competition aims to enhance students' proficiency in English, boost students' critical thinking skills, and promote a positive and competitive academic environment among students through thought-provoking activities. 

26 Feb - 19 April 2024

B & C Shop

From February 26 to April 19, 2024, two Year 2 Semester 3 students from the Diploma in Aquaculture program successfully operated the B&C Shop snack business at TAR UMT Johor. Guided by Ms. Tharshini Manalan, they provided unique snacks and utilized social media for promotion. Despite challenges like schedule conflicts and supply issues, they managed the business with the help of assistants and effective inventory practices. The venture earned a profit of RM383.16, which they donated to Rumah Orang Tua Bukit Siput Segamat in the form of groceries.

This Introduction to Microsoft Excel Workshop not only provides new computer skills to the students but also enhances the relationship between them through the learning process. Additionally, this workshop can help ICT Society committee members gain knowledge about Microsoft Excel and assist ICT Society members in learning leadership and communication skills. This event was successfully held on March 20, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Accounting and Business Society conducted "Professional Journey with KPMG" on April 24, 2024, at DKC3. The aims of the career talk were to provide invaluable guidance to aspiring students in proactively pursuing their career goals as students. A total of 104 participants joined the session.

Prom Night : Enchanted Night

The Music Society hosted an unforgettable "Prom Night: Enchanted Night" on May 10th, 2024, at Campus Hall! Aimed at giving our graduating students a night to remember, this magical event brought together 80 participants, 30 dedicated helpers, and committee members. With enchanting performances and cherished moments, it was the perfect way to celebrate university life and unwind from academic pressures.

Orientation Week 2024/2025

Orientation Week at TAR UMT Johor Branch, held from 24/6/24 to 27/6/24, provided a comprehensive introduction to university life for 150 freshmen. The program featured a range of activities, workshops, and seminars designed to help new students acclimate to their new environment. The event aimed to build a sense of community and readiness for academic and personal growth, preparing students for their journey through higher education and future opportunities.

Buddhist Society Orientation

The Buddhist Society held an orientation on 13/7/2024 at DKC2 with 48 participants. The orientation aimed to introduce participants to the Buddhist Society, enhance creativity, physical and mental strength, and develop soft and adaptation skills. It also focused on character building, life values, unity, and improving team-building and leadership among committee members.

Career Lunchpad Programme (CLP)

The CAREER LAUNCHPAD PROGRAMME (CLP) was organized by DACB lecturers for TAR UMT Johor Branch students on 7 August 2024 in collaboration with the SOCSO/PERKESO. The event aimed to promote MYFutureJobs as the primary job portal for students, serving as a vital link between industry and higher education. Five key elements of MYFutureJobs were discussed to prepare participants for a successful transition into the workforce. A total of 116 students attended the event.

Veg Run

The Buddhist Society, TAR UMT Johor Branch, joined the 'Veg Run' at Taman Rekreasi Sungai Kapeh, Segamat, organized by BLIA-YAD Segamat on 27/7/2024. This energetic event, with 53 dedicated helpers, aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of Buddhist culture. Through fun activities, participants enhanced their creativity, physical fitness, and leadership skills. The event fostered unity and community spirit, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

E-Grammar Competition

The English Language Society (ELS) of TAR UMT Johor Branch successfully organized the E-Grammar Competition on August 7, 2024, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at DKC 2. The competition featured 50 multiple-choice questions in a Google Form, to be completed in 30 minutes. A total of 39 participants took part, and the event proceeded smoothly.

Diskusi Perpaduan : Chit Chat Belia "Perpaduan dalam Kepelbagaian"

The Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi Nasional (JPNIN) Negeri Johor, in collaboration with the Nation Building Society TAR UMT Johor Branch, organized the Diskusi Perpaduan: Chit Chat Belia “Perpaduan dalam Kepelbagaian” on 31 July 2024 at DKC 1, TAR UMT Johor Branch. The event aimed to strengthen understanding and practice of the Rukun Negara, enhance knowledge on unity-related issues, and instill civil society values to empower national identity. The program featured speeches from key figures, panel discussions, and was attended by around 220 students, fostering a deeper appreciation of national unity.

Handmade Soap Making Activity

The Christian Fellowship organized a "Handmade Soap Making Activity" on 7/8/2024 at the ICT foyer. The event aimed to foster unity among students of different religions while encouraging creativity and practical skills through hands-on soap making. A total of 24 participants took part, with two guests from Harvest Community Church Segamat assisting during the event

STEM Workshops for Micro Primary School

A Basic Coding Workshop was organized at SJKC Tambang on 24 July 2024. It was organized by SJKC Tambang headmistress, Ms. Pang Choon Kiew, and co-organized by TAR UMT Johor branch, led by the branch head - Dr. Sam Yet Huat. Participants were teachers and students from SJKC Tambang and SJKC Central Site. The aim of this workshop was to further ignite students' curiosity and enthusiasm through exposure to real-world applications and interaction with STEM professionals, thereby fostering an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. Prior to the workshop, several TAR UMT Johor Branch students received additional professional training in Micro:bit on July 3rd to better assist primary school teachers and students. Both of the workshops were organized by the branch head - Dr. Sam Yet Huat, Deputy Branch Head - Dr. Leong Pui Huang, the Programme Leader of Department of Computing and Information Technology- Mr. Ku Cheng Fui and the Agricultural and Entrepreneurship Research Centre Chairperson – Ms. Heng Ee How. The main speaker for both of the workshops was Mr. Ku Cheng Fui. The workshops were assisted by other organizing committee members and the students. Additionally, after the workshop, a small-scale district-level competition for participating students to showcase their achievements in applied programming and creativity was conducted.

MakeCode World Workshop & Skincare Management Talk 

The Information and Communication Technology Society held the "MakeCode World Workshop" on 14 August 2024 at Computer Lab 2, with 30 participants. The workshop aimed to teach students how to use Microsoft MakeCode Arcade to create 2D games through block-based coding, foster creativity and innovation, and culminated in a friendly competition where participants designed and built their own games.

Skincare Management Talk 

On 14th August 2024, Tan Chiu Ling, a Year 2 Semester 3 student from the Diploma in Aquaculture, organized a Skincare Management Talk at TAR UMT Johor Branch. The event aimed to educate 18 participants on skin biology and personalized skincare routines to boost their self-confidence. The mission was to promote both physical and mental health by improving skin health among students.

Mersing Beach Clean-up Project

The Department of Computing and Information Technology (DCIT) at TAR UMT Johor Branch organized the "Mersing Beach Clean-Up Project" on 17 August 2024 as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. Led by lecturers Ms. Nuur Shuhada Mohd Najib and Ms. H'ng Li Fen, 15 student volunteers and 4 lecturers worked to clean Air Papan Beach, Mersing. Supported by Majlis Daerah Mersing, the project aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation, pollution's impact, and sustainable practices. Aligned with SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), the event emphasized the importance of reducing marine pollution and protecting coastal ecosystems.

Info Day, Spread the Love & CPUS Foundation Camp 2024 

The Marketing and Management Society organized Info Day on 17-18 August 2024 at TAR UMT, offering comprehensive information on academics, facilities, and services. The event aimed to raise awareness of academic opportunities and emphasize the importance of quality education. Ten student volunteers participated, engaging in educational discussions and providing campus tours to enhance understanding of campus life.

Spread the Love Events

With patriotic spirit and teamwork, the TAR UMT Johor Branch and Bukit Siput community, along with 19 student participants, decorated Dewan Raya Bukit Siput and Rumah Sejahtera Bukit Siput with Malaysian and Johor flags. Organized by JPKK and co-organized by TAR UMT and KRT, the event, "Program Gotong Royong Memasang Jalur Gemilang Sempena Hari Kebangsaan & Hari Malaysia 2024," took place on 18 August 2024. It brought together students and local residents to celebrate National Day, fostering unity and community spirit. 

CPUS Foundation Camp 2024

The DSA Johor Branch and CPUS conducted the CPUS Foundation Camp 2024 on 17-18 August 2024 at the TAR UMT Johor Branch. The camp aimed to establish a network between TAR UMT Johor Branch and TAR UMT CPUS Main Campus as a sports entity, introduce foundation students to the university campus, foster a sense of community and belonging among CPUS staff and students, and promote teamwork and cooperation. A total of 103 CPUS students participated in the event.

The Marketing and Management Society organized Info Day on 17-18 August 2024 at TAR UMT, offering comprehensive information on academics, facilities, and services. The event aimed to raise awareness of academic opportunities and emphasize the importance of quality education. Ten student volunteers participated, engaging in educational discussions and providing campus tours to enhance understanding of campus life.

Palm Print of Jalur Gemilang

The Nation Building Society, in collaboration with the Taekwondo Society, hosted the "Palmprint of the Jalur Gemilang" event on 21 August 2024 at TAR UMT Johor Branch. Celebrating Merdeka Day, 115 students and 20 staff contributed to a collaborative mural of the Malaysian flag using palm prints, symbolizing unity. The event also featured anthem singing and a Poster Design Competition, fostering national pride, creativity, and teamwork.

3R Sustainability Workshop: Innovative Strategies for Reducing, Reusing, Recycling, and Transforming Waste into Cash 

On 28th August 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, the Student Counselling Services, in collaboration with the Peer Support Society, held a motivational workshop titled "The Happiness Blueprint: Crafting a Meaningful Life" at the Function Hall, TAR UMT Johor Branch. The event had 27 student participants and was led by the Student Counsellor, with the support of 9 facilitators from the Peer Support Society. The workshop offered valuable insights into achieving both immediate happiness and long-term fulfillment. 

Cybersecurity Landscape: Emerging Technologies and It's Challenges

The Department of Computing and Information Technology, in collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia, held an online talk titled "Cybersecurity Landscape: Emerging Technologies and Its Challenges" on 28 August 2024 via Google Meet. Led by Dr. Mohd Ridzuan M Shariff, the event aimed to educate participants on the current cybersecurity landscape, emphasizing the rise in cyber attacks and their global impact. The talk was attended by 100 students and 5 lecturers. 

3R Sustainability Workshop: Innovative Strategies for Reducing, Reusing, Recycling, and Transforming Waste into Cash

The "3R Sustainability Workshop: Innovative Strategies for Reducing, Reusing, Recycling, and Transforming Waste into Cash" was held on August 28, 2024, at DKC 3 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Organized by Ms. Heng, the workshop aimed to teach participants practical waste management strategies and ways to turn waste into valuable resources. Approximately 120 students and community members attended to learn from 3R experts.

Volunteer: Beach Cleaning

The Accounting students from DACY1S3 (202405 Semester) at Johor Branch organized a successful beach cleanup at Klebang Beach, Malacca, on August 30, 2024. The initiative promoted community service and teamwork, encouraging volunteers to communicate effectively with each other and their instructor, Ms. Heng. Participants collected litter and applied the 3R recycling approach (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to sort waste. The event, held from 6:45 AM to 5:30 PM, made a positive impact on the community and environment. 

2 September 2024

Table Etiquette Workshop

On 2nd September 2024, the Hot Ring Society organized a Table Etiquette workshop at Garden Cafe from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The workshop aimed to teach proper table manners and dining etiquette to 15 members of Gerakan Persatuan Wanita (GPW), supported by 4 lecturers and 6 student helpers from the Diploma in Hotel Management. Interactive sessions covered topics like place settings, cutlery usage, handling multiple courses, and table conversation, with practical demonstrations. Participants provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, praising the informative and engaging content, and expressed interest in future programs. The event was deemed a success, achieving its goals.

Eco- Enzyme Talk

The Eco-Enzyme Event, organized by the Society of Aquaculture and Agriculture in collaboration with Eko-Enzim Malaysia, took place on September 3, 2024, at SJKC Hwa Nan, Batu Anam. The event, attended by 125 students, 7 committee members, and an advisor, aimed to educate participants on the environmental and health benefits of eco-enzymes. Speakers Chui Ling and Vincent Gan Yong Shun delivered engaging presentations on eco-enzymes' role in addressing environmental issues and improving health. The event included hands-on activities, such as making eco-enzymes and testing chlorine levels, to enhance participants' understanding of sustainable practices.

Emergency Evacuation Plan

The Student Residence Management Office held an Emergency Evacuation Plan (EEP) on September 4, 2024, with 279 student residents. The session emphasized the importance of a clear evacuation plan for saving lives and preventing chaos, outlined safety checks during a fire, and noted an average escape time of 2.5 minutes. It also covered hostel escape routes and fire prevention measures.

Awareness Talk: The Threats of cyber crime(SCAMMERS) 

DSA and DCIT organized an awareness talk on scam prevention, led by IPD Segamat, on 11th September 2024 from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm in DKC 3. The session educated students and staff on identifying and avoiding scams such as phishing and identity theft, focusing on scam types, warning signs, preventive steps, and response protocols. A total of 107 participants attended the talk to enhance their knowledge and protect against fraud.

Event 1

The Mid-Autumn Festival Carnival 2024 was held at Taman Utama, Segamat on 14-15 September 2024. Organized by Pemuda Persatuan Tionghua Segamat in collaboration with the Marketing and Management Society TAR UMT Johor Branch.The event aimed to strengthen social bonds and foster mutual understanding, respect, and harmony, while promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of the Mid-Autumn Festival. 


Event 2

The English Language Society (ELS) of Tunku Abdul Rahman University Management and Technology Johor Branch successfully organized a Pool Party on 18th September 2024. The event aimed to create an inviting atmosphere, fostering a sense of belonging among participants, while imparting values such as leadership, tolerance, creativity, cooperation, and inventiveness to committee members and assistants. It also provided students with an opportunity to unwind from their academic responsibilities. A total of 91 participants attended the event. 


Event 3

The Buddhist Society joined the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival hosted by BLIA-YAD Segamat at the Library BLIA Segamat on 20th September 2024 from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm. The event, aimed at fostering community and belonging among members, featured activities like mooncake making, lantern walks, and fan design. It provided participants with an opportunity to deepen friendships, learn about the cultural significance of the festival, and create lasting memories. A total of 45 participants attended the event.

Event 1

The Nation Building Society held the National Day Poster Design Competition from 21st August to 25th September 2024. The event aimed to enhance students’ creativity, foster artistic skills, and deepen their understanding of the nation’s culture and values. It also focused on nurturing essential soft skills such as adaptability, teamwork, and leadership while encouraging participants to improve their problem-solving abilities through meaningful visual representations of national pride and identity. A total of 17 students took part in the competition, contributing to the celebration of National Day. 


Event 2

The Accounting and Business Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch organized a one-day agrotourism trip on 28 September 2024, to UK Farm Sdn. Bhd. in Kluang, for 18 students. This trip aimed to promote awareness of sustainable tourist development and provided participants with an immersive experience in agricultural life, featuring goat farming and a tour of a tropical fruit farm. The facilities offered valuable ecological and educational insights, allowing participants to appreciate Malaysia's agricultural businesses. 


Event 3

The Accounting and Business Society of TAR UMT Johor Branch organized a one-day station games event on 29th September 2024 for 58 students. The event featured multiple stations, each designed to develop individual or group skills through various activities. It aimed to introduce students to new skills, provide opportunities to practice existing ones, and promote teamwork and cooperation.

2."New Friends, True Joy!" Simulation Camp 

Event 1

On August 31, 2024, students, along with Ms. Heng and Dr. Yai, participated in the Johor State National Day Parade, proudly demonstrating their patriotism. They marched alongside teams from various organizations, reflecting unity and national pride. The parade featured performances like traditional dances and cultural displays that celebrated Malaysia's rich heritage. As they marched, the students and staff engaged with the community, sharing in the excitement of the nation’s independence. 


Event 2

The Community Sociology Society held a Simulation Camp titled "New Friends, True Joy!" on 31st August 2024 at the TAR UMT Function Hall. The camp aimed to raise awareness of education, motivate children to identify their talents, and address concerns about their future education. It also helped participants prepare for the transition to primary school from 6th to 7th September 2024. A total of 28 participants attended.
